Lysonic Media & Lysonic i Ink for IRISBack in September 1994, when i-Lab Corporation began offering fine art inks from Lyson Ltd to the IRIS® market, the dream was to be able to one day provide a single inkset which could yield the long display life wanted by artists and collectors and also a broad color gamut to satisfy the palette requirements of even the most demanding images. Our frustration throughout the past had been that even though ink developments have increased tested display life figures dramatically (from our beginning levels of 12-15 years to the current 65-75 years or more), the color gamut for the long life ink sets has still been substantially lower than that which can be achieved with proofing inks and we could not satisfy all printers and artists needs with even our latest Lysonic i inks. Lyson Ltd has solved the gamut issues; not with further ink development, but with a very special series of coated art papers offered in full size sheets for the Iris® 3047 printer. All media product are surfaced with a very aggressive coating designed to dramatically increase the color gamut normally achieved with the Lysonic i inks. For the first time a printer can now satisfy a broader range of customer needs without the use of multiple inksets and expensive ink changes! When bright colors with no image mottling is needed, use Lysonic i inks on Lysonic media and offer 28-32 years display life (40 years with use of extended black ramp profiles), a longer life than most inks can claim on standard uncoated art papers! When longest display life is a higher priority and the standard color gamut will satisfy image requirements, simply change to your choice of uncoated art paper (Somerset, Arches, etc.) and offer 65-75 years display life! This remarkable paper development is also being offered at very competitive pricing. In order to keep costs to a minimum, Lyson has agreed to process orders for these papers at Lyson, Inc. in Elk Grove Village, IL. You can place your paper orders with i-Lab Corporation as always and the papers will be shipped and invoiced by Lyson, Inc. The media are currently available in 35"x46 ¾" size in 25 sheet packs.
